Specialty Glass

Special projects need special glass. We can advise you on how to make the right choice.

Tempered glass

¨Tempering¨ glass is a process by which glass is oven-heated at high temperature to reach the softening point (±600⁰ C). Then the glass is rapidly cooled by jet-air pressure or immersed in a silicone basin. This process, which creates deep tensions and surface compression, gives glass a level of resistance 2 to 5 times greater than standard glass.

Did you know?

Tempered glass may no longer be reworked, cut, molded or otherwise handled. When it breaks, it shatters in numerous small pieces with little or no sharp edges.

. Laminated glass

Laminated glass consists of two or more layers of glass, each sealed to the other by a plastic film. Because the broken pieces remain together, it is excellent for safety glass use, in spite of a slightly lower resistance than tempered glass.

Did you know?

Laminated glass is used in manufacturing bullet-proof glass.

Lacquered glass

Lacquered glass is basically painted on the backside with an added protective coating. Mainly used for headboards, kitchen cabinets and bathroom counters, it may be combined to ultra-clear glass to replicate any color you may desire.

Did you know?

We can reproduce any color from the Pantone chart. The color may vary ever so slightly—this being due to light refraction through the glass.

Polished wired glass

This particular type of glass shows a metallic grid inserted during the manufacturing process. It is mainly used in steel and fire doors.

Did you know?

Polished wired glass is also available in a frosted version. An interesting option for use in kitchen cabinet doors.

Pyroceram glass

Light amber, transparent ceramic glass with a high heat resistance (up to 700⁰). It can withstand all thermal shocks. Ideally suited for use with stoves and fireplace inserts.
